Syria Congratulates Iraq on Liberation of Fallujah from ISIS

DAMASCUS- Syria has congratulated the Iraqi people and government on winning back the strategic city of Fallujah in the Western province of al-Anbar, SANA reported.

“Syrian Arab Republic congratulates the brotherly Iraqi people, government and army over the victory and the liberation of Fallujah from the ISIS terrorist organization which poses a step in the process of eradicating this terrorist organization and its ilk in Iraq, Syria and the region,” a source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement to SANA on Saturday.

The source added that this great victory was achieved thanks to the sacrifices made by the Iraqi brave army and the popular crowd to end the brutal and barbaric practices of this criminal organization against the people of Iraq.

The source stressed that Syria is convinced that the battle against terrorism is one on both sides of the two brotherly countries’ borders and it confirms determination and complete readiness for higher level of cooperation against all forms of Takfiri terrorism.

On Friday, Iraqi army forces raised the Iraqi national flag over the main government compound in Fallujah, symbolizing the recapture of the beleaguered city after the two-year-long ISIS control over it.
