Syria Conference not before July – Russian diplomat

A conference on Syria, proposed by Russia and the USA will take place in July at the earliest, Russia’s Foreign Deputy Minister Gennady Gatilov said,according to Voice of Russia.

“Regarding the conference on Syria, there is reason to believe that it will take place after we reach agreement on all issues concerning the format of the upcoming meeting”, he told newsmen on the results of a 3-party meeting with the participation of Russia, the USA, and the United Nations in Geneva, which focused on the preparations for this conference.

Answering the question put by Interfax whether this conference will take place before the end of this month, Gatilov said:

“No, because we should settle quite a number of organizational issues concerning the format of the above-mentioned conference”.
