Syria Condemns New Flagrant Turkish Violation of Its Sovereignty

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Under a cover ensured by the US-led coalition’s air force, Turkish tanks and armored vehicles today morning crossed the Turkish-Syrian borders into the Syrian city of Jarablus, allegedly to fight “Deash”, in a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian state, according to an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

The source told SANA that “the Syrian Arab Republic condemns this flagrant violation of its sovereignty and stresses that fighting terrorism on the Syrian land by whatever party should be coordinated with the Syrian government and the Syrian Arab Army which has been battling terrorism for more than five years.”

“Syria asserts that fighting terrorism can’t be achieved by expelling “Deash” and replacing it with other terrorist groups that are directly backed by Turkey,” the source said.

According to the source, what is going on in Jarablus now is not a fight against terrorism as Turkey alleges; rather, it is an attempt to replace “Daesh” with other terrorist groups.

In this regard, the source said, Syria urges ending this aggression and called on the United Nations to implement it resolutions relating to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states. Syria also stresses the need that Turkey and the Washington-led coalition respect international resolutions, particularly regarding closing the borders to control flow of terrorists and weapons and drying up terrorism resources, the source added.
