DAMASCUS, (ST)-Syria has strongly condemned the allegations and disinformation provided in the recent statement of the French Foreign Ministry regarding what it described as “Raqqa Liberation Anniversary”.
The French Foreign Ministry claimed in its statement that France, which is a member of the US-led Coalition purportedly against Daesh terrorist organization, has played a key role in liberating the Syrian Raqqa city from Daesh terrorists with the help of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). It also alleged that “France has mobilized €30 million since the liberation of Raqqa in support of humanitarian and stabilization projects in northeastern Syria.”
Reacting to the French ministry’s lies, an official source at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate told SANA on Sunday that the entire world witnessed how the Syrian city of Raqqa was completely and systematically destroyed by the alleged US-led international coalition, in which France itself is a member. The world also saw the decomposed bodies of innocent civilians in the streets of the city and the homeless and displaced people because of the coalition’s attacks on residential areas, the source added, stressing that these violations amount to genocide crimes that should be subjected to accountability.
The source went on to say that safe corridors were opened for Daesh terrorists to leave under the protection of the forces of the US-French coalition so as to use those terrorists in other places with the purpose of complicating and prolonging the crisis in Syria in the service of the agendas of the colonialist West.
“The support for some groups in Syria, mentioned in the French statement, is clear-cut evidence on the destructive heinous policy the French government is adopting towards Syria,” stressed the source.
What happened in Raqqa is a stain of shame on the forehead of the French administration that recalls France’s colonialist criminal history, said the source, pointing out that the French public opinion and people with good conscience should uncover the lies of the French government which has agreed to be a small subordinate for the US administration, with complete disregard to the independent course of Charles de Gaulle which helped France acquire good position and reputation in the world.
