Syria condemns extending the EU’s coercive measures imposed on the Scientific Research and Studies Center

A source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Tuesday that Syria strongly condemns the unfair decision of the European Union to extend the illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Scientific Research and Studies Center and on some members on its staff.

It has become clear that these measures come within the systematic campaign against Syria, as they lack the minimum level of objectivity and credibility, particularly after the lies and attempts made by some countries hostile to Syria to politicize the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the service of the conspiracy plotted against the country, the source said.

This fact has been proven by the scandals that surfaced as a result of the work of some of the OPCW’s fact-finding teams and by the confessions made by some inspectors about being pressured to falsify the facts, the sources added.

The source went on to say that Syria, which has willingly joined the OPCW and has completely fulfilled its obligations in a record time, reaffirms that these desperate attempts to continue targeting Syria are doomed to failure as they prove that these countries’ are separate from reality and that they feel frustration after the failure of their conspiracy on Syria.

These attempts will strengthen Syria’s insistence on defending its sovereignty and preventing any foreign interference in its internal affairs.

The source asserted that the European Union, which accepts being a tool to implement the policies of Syria’s enemies, proves again that it lacks the minimum level of independent decision and that it is not qualified to play any positive role in the international arena.
