Syria completely rejects the Turkish or any other illegal foreign presence on its territories: al-Jaafari
NEW YORK, (ST)- Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, has affirmed that securing the entire city of Aleppo by the Syrian Arab Army has made its people feel safe as the city has become far from the terrorists’ shelling range
In a statement during a Security Council meeting in Thursday, al-Jaafari said that some countries are trying to turn the Security Council into a platform for NATO to back the Turkish aggression on Syrian territories, but this undermines the international organization’s role in preserving the peace and security of the world.
He added that the UN Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs violates his mandate by trying to defame Syria through his misleading campaign concerning the real situation in the country.
He reiterated that Syria completely rejects any Turkish or any other foreign illegal presence on its lands and it calls for stopping the Turkish regime’s hostile acts and support for terrorism in Syria.
He pointed out that humanitarian aid can be delivered to the northeastern part of Syria in coordination and cooperation with the Syrian government away from hostile approaches and attempts to politicize humanitarian action.
He also said that Syria calls on the countries which have influence on the Turkish regime and the Turkish-backed terrorist organizations to put pressure on them as to allow a million Syrians, who were displaced because of the Turkish acts of aggression in the north of Syria, to return home.
He added that neither the president of the Turkish regime nor the Turkish representative to the UN has the right to speak on behalf of the Syrian people, because the Turkish regime is still supporting terrorism in Syria and it is pressing ahead with its aggression on Syrian territories.
The senior Syrian diplomat said that cooperation between the Syrian government and its partners from foreign non- governmental organizations, national civil associations and the UN has enabled Syria to continue providing humanitarian aid, social support, medical care and basic needs to millions of Syrians.
Al-Jaafari regretted the delay of World Health Organization in delivering the medical shipment stuck in Iraq though it has received the approval of the Syrian government to enter the country through al-Boukamal border crossing.
