Syria chosen as a guest of honor at a book fair in Egypt

Syria has been chosen as a guest of honor at the “Zayed” Book Fair, in its eighth session, held in Sheikh Zayed City, Giza Governorate, Egypt. Adel Al-Masry, head of the Conferences and Exhibitions Committee at the Zayed Foundation for Creativity and the exhibition’s supervisor, said: “The selection of Syria as a guest of honor in this year’s exhibition came for many reasons, including that Syria is one of the leading Arab countries in the field of publishing and book issuance, in addition to the presence of many Syrian publishing houses operating in Egypt and the large presence of the Syrian brothers in the cities of Sheikh Zayed and Sixth of October.”
Al-Masry noted Syria’s distinguished cultural presence during the exhibition, through its participation in many cultural and artistic events, in addition to the participation of Syrian publishing houses, pointing out that the Syrian participation took place in coordination with the Syrian Publishers Association, and in cooperation with the Syrian Embassy in Egypt and the Syrian community there.
In turn, the head of the Syrian Publishers Association, Haitham Hafez, said in a similar statement: This choice came due to the distinguished level represented by Syria and its publishing houses among Arab publishing houses, in addition to its cultural and civilizational position at the Arab and global levels, and also came after obtaining membership in the International Publishers Association, which is evidence of the prestigious Arab and international standing that Syrian publishing houses bear, which makes them face a great responsibility in creating a balanced culture, the principle of which is love and peace by providing good content within the Syrian book.
Hafez pointed out that the Syrian Publishers Association participates in many Arab and international events and exhibitions, and it has brotherly relations with Egyptian publishing houses and cultural institutions in general, explaining that Syrian writers receive wide welcome and interest in all cultural circles they come to.
It is noteworthy that the Zayed Book Fair will be held from the 12th to the 24th of October, under the slogan “Culture Is Life”, with the participation of 85 publishing houses, and organized by the Zayed Foundation for Creativity and Development.
