Syria, China sign joint statement on cooperation in preserving cultural heritage

BEIJING, Sep.26, (ST)-Within the framework of strengthening cultural cooperation between Syria and China, the document of the joint statement on cooperation in the Asian cultural heritage initiative was signed between the Ministry of Culture and the National Administration of Cultural Heritage in China.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, the statement was signed bythe Syrian Ambassador in Beijing, Muhammad Hassanein Khaddam, – on behalf of the Minister of Culture Lubana Al-Mushawah- and Li Chun, the Chinese Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Xiong Yuanming, Director of the National Administration of Cultural Heritage, at the headquarters of the National Library in Beijing, which is currently hosting the Syrian Antiquities Exhibition.

The signing ceremony included speeches by Mushawah, Ambassador Khaddam, Li Chun, and Xiong Yuanming.

The joint declaration is a new framework for strengthening the Syrian-Chinese cooperation in the field of preserving and protecting cultural heritage in various fields.
