Damascus, (ST) – Planning and International Cooperation Commission signed yesterdaywith the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China two cooperation agreements providing for the provision of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.
The two agreements, which signed by Chairman of Planning Commission Dr. Imad Sabouni on behalf of the Syrian government and Chinese Ambassador Qi Qianjin on behalf of his government, to provide two batches of humanitarian aid to Syria. The first batch is estimated at $ 16 million.
In a press statement after the signing of the two agreements between the two parties, Chairman of Planning Commission Dr. Imad Sabouni said that the two agreements which fall within the context of the ongoing cooperation between the governments of the two countries whereas “China provided over the past years big support to Syria in international forums to overcome the crisis in Syria.”
“The cooperation between the two countries will not stop at providing assistance where there is a mutual aspiration of the two governments to rise to the areas of cooperation and broad economic partnership in all sectors, particularly in the area of investment and reconstruction that will be taken place soon.” Dr. Sabouni said.
In a similar statement, the Chinese Ambassador in Damascus said that the humanitarian aid provided by his country and the two agreements signed yesterday confirm the support and depth of bilateral relations between the two countries and “then we look forward to even greater cooperation in all economic, social and humanitarian fields.”
Attended the signing of the two agreements were Trade and Economic Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Damascus “Swe Been” and professionals in the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry and Planning and International Cooperation Commission and members at the Chinese Embassy in Damascus.
