Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim and the Chargé d’Affairs of the Chilean Embassy in Damascus Jose Patricio Brickle on Thursday discussed prospects of academic and cultural cooperation and ways to enhance bilateral ties between Syria and Chile.
Minister Ibrahim affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to establish academic and research cooperation with the Chilean side and to translate this cooperation within an executive timetable through the most important universities in the two countries, especially in the precise specializations related to water and natural resources, hailing the scientific level enjoyed by Chilean universities.
Minister Ibrahim called for boosting relations between the Syrian and Chilean universities, for doubling efforts to reach the best results in joint projects, for exchanging professors and students between universities, especially in the Master’s and PhD stage and for establishing joint research laboratories.
In turn, Brickle gave an overview of the reality of Chilean universities and the scientific programs and specializations they apply, stressing the need to strengthen relations between Syria and Chile in the future by visiting academic and scientific centers to establish a research partnership between the two sides through exchanging professors and students for the common interest of both sides.
