Syria censures terror attacks in Egypt’s Sinai

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Syria has condemned in the strongest terms the armed terrorist gangs’ crime in Egypt’s north Sinai province that killed at least 40 soldiers and wounded scores more.

According to the official news agency (SANA), a source at Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said today that the condemnation of the terror crime is based on the fact that the peoples of Syria and Egypt stand in the same trench against ISIS organization and other terror organizations.

The source added that the continuity of Takfiri terrorist groups’ attacks on Egyptian army uncovers the plots that target forces defending the Arab states’ sovereignty and independence and their just causes.

“This requires further cohesion among our states to confront the threat of terrorists and extremists that are allied with enemies of our Arab nation,” the source said.

It concluded by saying that Syria expresses its heartfelt condolences to families of martyrs and it underscores that the joint war against terrorism and extremism is the only guarantee to the Arab nation’s future, strength and dignity.

Last night, terrorist attacked a military base, a police headquarters, a residential complex for army and police officers and several army checkpoints in El Arish, killing and injuring dozens of Egyptian soldiers and officers.

Thursday’s attack was the deadliest since an October 24 assault, also near El Arish, when terrorists killed over 30 soldiers and wounded scores more.
