Syria calls on UN Security Council to take firm measures to prevent the recurrence of Israeli attacks

Damascus (ST)_Syria once again called on the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to assume their responsibilities and take firm and immediate measures to prevent the recurrence of Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and the need to hold the Israeli occupation entity accountable for its terrorism and crimes.

The Ministry of Foreign  Affairs and Expatriates said in a letter to both the UN Secretary-General  and the President of the Security Council that the Israeli occupation authorities, at approximately 23.3 pm yesterday, Thursday, August 19, 2021, carried out the aggression again on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic by launching bursts of missiles from southeast Beirut, which targeted some areas in the vicinity of the capital, Damascus, and the vicinity of the city of Homs.

The ministry added that this new treacherous Israeli aggression comes within the framework of systematic and continuing criminal policies in a flagrant exchange of roles between all parties involved in the shedding of Syrian blood, including prolonging the terrorist war against it.

It indicated that all countries of the world know that the main goal of such attacks is to raise the morale of their terrorists and criminals, including in the northeastern region occupied by the American army forces and in the northwestern region occupied by the Turkish regime’s forces and their terrorist tools in Daraa al-Balad in flagrant violation of the provisions of international law,  the Charter of the United Nations and its relevant resolutions, all of which call for maintaining respect for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

The ministry went on to say: “The continuation of the terrorist attacks by the Israeli occupation authorities will not succeed in thwarting or intimidating the Syrian people, the Syrian Arab Army and its allies, nor will it succeed in dissuading them from defeating the “ISIS” and “Jabhat al-Nusra” with its various names and the rest of the terrorist groups partnering with “Israel and the US, but rather increases their insistence on adhering to the inevitability of their victory over terrorism and the restoration of the occupied Syrian Golan by all means guaranteed by international law.”

It added that the Syrian Arab Republic affirms once again that Israel’s continuation of its dangerous aggressive approach would not have been possible without the green light and the unlimited and continuous support provided to it by some of those countries, especially the US administration, which is currently confused by the results of its adventures in Afghanistan.

The ministry concluded by saying: “The Syrian Arab Republic once again calls on the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to assume their responsibilities within the framework of the UN Charter, the most important of which is maintaining international peace and security, and to take firm and immediate measures to prevent the recurrence of these Israeli attacks and make “Israel” respects its resolutions related to the Disengagement of Forces Agreement and its accountability for its terrorism and its crimes against the peoples of Syria, Lebanon and Palestine and its continued support for terrorist organizations, all of which constitute flagrant violations of the Charter of the United Nations, the provisions of international law, Security Council resolutions 242, 338, 350 and 497, and all resolutions related to the crisis in Syria, resolution 1701 and all international resolutions related to combating terrorism.”
