Syria, Belarus: Obligating Terrorism Sponsoring States to Comply with UN Resolutions, Stop Supporting Terrorist Organizations
DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Deputy Premier and Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem reviewed during his yesterday meeting with Vladimir MacKay, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs and the accompanying delegation latest developments in Syria and the regional and international arenas and view points were identical regarding debated issues.
Moallem confirmed the Syrian people determination under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad to continue fighting terrorism and the importance of concerted regional and international efforts, in line with the international legitimacy, to eradicate terrorism which proved that it has no boundaries, rather a threat to international peace and security, stressing the importance of obligating states sponsoring terrorism to comply with UN resolutions and stop providing all forms of support for terrorist organizations.
For his part, MacKay voiced his country’s support for Syria and expressed high appreciation for Syria’s policy to get out of the current crisis, stressing the importance of cooperation with Syria in fighting terrorism.
At the level of bilateral relations, the two sides stressed mutual will to strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries in all fields to serve bilateral interests, noting that meetings of the next Syrian – Belarus joint committee in Minsk will be an opportunity for the development of relations between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ayman Susan Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Ahmad Arnous Minister’s advisor and Najwa Rifai, Director of the EU Department at the Ministry.
