Syria beat Jordan in WABC

TEHRAN, (ST) – The U-15 national basketball team have defeated their Jordanian counterparts 55-53 in the West Asia Basketball Championship which is currently held in Tehran.

 

Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan plus Syria are taking part in the event.

Sports critics branded the match as strong and tough where the Syrian team has the final word in the last quarter of the match.

In their opener, the Syrian side lost their Lebanese counterparts 52-81 .And they (the Syrian side ) will go –head-to-head with hosts Iran tomorrow while Syria’s final match will be against Iraq on Tuesday.

Syria squad:

Odai Baghajati, YazanJabi, Sami Hamwi, Toni Arbaji, Nazem Qasas, Ahmad Khayata, Mo9hammad Mahli, Bassam Muaz, Hofik Makarian, Adham Tahan and Farouk Omar.

It is to be noted that the event’s format provides for qualifying the first three team to the Asian finals.
