Syria asserts Jeffrey’s remarks prove US Administration’s responsibility for Syrian people’s suffering

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Syria has underscored that the United States views  the region through the eyes of Israel because the demands of the U.S. Special Representative for Syria Engagement James Jeffrey are old and renewed Israeli demands to have hegemony over the region.

In a statement released today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Syria asserted that the U.S. policy blatantly violates human rights and international humanitarian law.

“The remarks made by James Jeffrey on the current situation in Syria constitute a clear admission by the US administration of it being directly responsible for the suffering of Syrians,” the ministry said.

It termed the tightening of sanctions as the other side of the overt war on Syria after the repeated failures of US-backed terrorist groups.

“The U.S. policy will fail since Syrians are committed to their country’s  sovereignty and independence,” The ministry stressed , citing that the absence of real international legitimacy and Arab solidarity are the sole reason behind not holding the US Administration accountable for targeting Syrian citizens’ daily life.

James Jeffrey admitted on Sunday that the high prices of basic products in Syria and the devaluation of the Syrian pound are due to illegal measures approved by his administration.
