Syria, Armenia to develop and enhance relations

Yerevan, (ST) – Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Keropian discussed with Syrian Ambassador to Armenia Muhammad Haj Ibrahim the means to develop and enhance the friendship relations between the two countries and peoples.

During the meeting, Keropian affirmed his country’s keenness to develop cooperation with Syria, saying that, “the economic relations should be raised to the level of the high political and humanitarian relations between the two countries,” stressing his readiness to take practical steps in this regard.

The meeting dealt with draft agreements and protocols that will be signed during the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee.  The head of the Armenian side in the aforementioned committee, Kerubian expressed his desire to hold a forum for businessmen from both sides during the committee meeting. He also stressed the importance of direct flights between the two countries in terms of enhancing economic relations.

They also discussed the facilities and privileges that can be obtained for the two countries’ industrialists, as well as methods of developing trade links and increasing the volume of trade exchange.

For his part, Ambassador Haj Ibrahim expressed appreciation and thanks for the position of the government and people of Armenia towards Syria and the Syrian people throughout the crisis period. He wished progress and prosperity for Armenia and the Armenian people, pointing to the importance of holding the Syrian-Armenian Joint Committee.
