PROVINCES,(ST)_Units of the armed forces have imposed control over Htaitet al-Terkman area in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus and seized weapons for terrorists in Mazzeh area in Damascus, according to AlIkhbaria AlSoreyeh TV channel.
The TV channel quoted a military source as confirming that Htaitet al-Terkman area became under the control of the Syrian army after eliminating all terrorist groupings there.
In this context, the official news agency quoted a military source as saying that the fresh achievement comes after a tailored operation that took up less than 48 hours after cordoning off the area from several axes.
The source said: “As many as 100 terrorists died and 150 other injured in the operation,” noting that the terrorists were belonging to al-Nusra Front, the so-called the “Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant”, and ‘Seraj al-Haq’ battalion.
It added that the armed forces are now hunting down the remained terrorists on the outskirt of Htaitet al-Terkman area.
The Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV Channel screened an exclusive video on the area, which include many restaurants, after the army entered it.
“No civilians were living in the area. It was a military one and had seen fierce fighting,” al-Mayadden’ s correspondent said.
The terrorists were moving from Htaitet al-Terkman area to Shab’a town- which became under army’s control three weeks ago- and to Damascus International Airport road.
Weapons seized in Damascus
This development coincided with confiscating weapons in Basatin al-Razi area (al-Razi orchards) in Mazzeh area in the capital [Damascus].
According to the video screened by AlIkhbaria al-Soreyeh TV channel, the weapons included big quantity of bombs, walkie-talkies, rifles and bullets.
Al-Sekhneh town ‘safe’
In another development, the armed forces restored stability and security to al-Sekhneh town outside Palmyra in Homs province.
They also destroyed several tunnels stretching from sport club to Abo Khsebeh building and al-Sad road in southern Daraa province and clashed with terrorists in towns of Tafas, Izra’a, Bosra al-Harir, al-Meskeyeh, Nawa, al-Za’aror, al-hanot and Sida alGolan where dozens of terrorists were eliminated.
A military source told the official news agency that two arms-laden cars were destroyed by the armed forces and 12 terrorists died as they were planting an explosive device at the entry of Nomir town in western Daraa countryside.
More terrorists were killed in an ambush in Salaheddin quarter in northern Aleppo province and in clashes that erupted in quarters of al-Sheikh Kheder, al-Sakhour and Sliman al-Halabi in the same province.
Other clashes raged between the armed forces and the armed terrorist groups trying to infiltrate into Mahen and Arak towns in central Homs province, according to the agency which confirmed continuity of cracking down on terrorists nationwide.
Homs explosion
In a separate incident, the province of Homs witnessed today a terrorists attack when a car bomb exploded in al-Ahram Street near al-Nezha quarter in the city.
At least 2 citizens were martyred and 40 others, including women and children, wounded by the blast.
More citizens were wounded when a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) hit an oil tank in ‘al-Farabi’ school in Bab Sba’a quarter in the same province.
The RPG was fired by terrorists.
The US, Britain, France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey support the terrorists, who are perpetrating heinous crimes against citizens and soldiers and targeting the country’s infrastructure.
