Syria Arab army advances towards south-west Yabroud, conducts successful operations against terrorist groups in 7 provinces

PROVINCES,(ST)_Military sources have confirmed that army units conducted a series of successful operations against foreign-backed terrorist groups outside Damascus, Daraa, Homs and Lattakia provinces and in Aleppo, Idleb and Der Ezzour provinces.

The operations, which were carried out today, resulted in making a remarkable progress towards south-west Yabroud city, confiscating a quantity of weapons and munitions and eliminating scores of terrorists, some affiliated to al-Nusra Front and the so-called the ‘Islamic Front’.

In details, the official news agency reported that the army units made a remarkable progress in Raas al-Ein town, to the south-west of Yabroud city, in the wake of concentrated operations carried out there.

Preparations for decisive operations in al-Qalamon

It added that a bomb-making factory, containing tens of explosive devices and 4 local-made rockets, was found in a farm during a mopping-up operation in the western quarter of Yabroud city.

On Sunday, the army units imposed full control over the strategic Yabroud city, cutting off a logistic supply line to terrorist groups in Damascus countryside.

Today, media reports say that the army units are preparing to carry out decisive operations against terrorist groups in towns of Rankous, Flita and Raas Maara in order to complete imposing control over al-Qalamon area.

Many terrorists, who were in Yabroud city, reportedly fled to the aforementioned towns. 

 In other areas outside Damascus, the army units destroyed a quantity of weapons and munitions for terrorists and eliminated several terrorists, some belonging to the so-called the ‘Islamic Front’ in Afra town in al-Zaadani city and in areas of Adra, Duma, Erbin and Jobar.

Infighting

Well over 12 terrorists were killed and several others injured during a quarrel erupted between two terrorist groups after an explosion took place inside a hideout in al-Mleha town, around 7.5 km to the south-east of Damascus.

The hideout was including weapons and munitions for the two terrorist groups.

Infiltration bids

Meanwhile, a military source told the official agency that the army units thwarted armed terrorist groups’ infiltration bids into safe areas on Semlin-Jasem road outside Daraa province and into a garrison in the surrounding of Gharz prison in Daraa city.

Other infiltration bids into Mahallet al-Sayyed Ali in northern Aleppo province and from al-Dar al-Kabira into safe areas outside Homs province were also foiled by the army units. 

Dozens of terrorist were reportedly mowed down in the clashes flared up during infiltration bids and when the army units shelled terrorist groupings in several areas in Daraa, Homs, Idleb, Der Ezzour, Lattakia and Aleppo provinces.

Most of the terrorists died in the northern countryside of Lattakia were belonging to al-Nusra Front, a military source said.

Ambush in Homs

In a further development, it was reported that an army unit wiped out, at dawn, a car equipped with heavy machinegun and killed 7 terrorists in an ambush on a road linking Ezeddin town and al-Rayyan town outside Homs province.

While in Hama province, the competent authorities arrested a terrorist group and seized weapons in the eastern countryside of the province, according to a military source.

13 gunmen surrendered

As for national reconciliation process, situations of 13 gunmen from Ma’aloula town were settled after they turned themselves in to the competent authorities today.     

Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.

The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
