Syria and Tunisia Face the Same Terrorism: al-Mikdad

DAMASCUS – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad met on Monday a delegation representing the Popular Front for the Tunisian national parties, headed by Abdelaziz Kotti, member of Assembly of the Representatives of the People of Tunisia, SANA reported.

The two sides discussed brotherly relationship connecting the Syrian and Tunisian peoples, the importance of enhancing bilateral ties in all fields and means of overcoming the obstacles facing boosting the two countries relations.

Mikdad gave a comprehensive political review on the plot being hatched against Syria, affirming that Syria and Tunisia counter the same terrorism that aims at distorting and undermining the national role in supporting the Palestinian cause and confronting Israel and its ambitions in the region.

In turn, Kotti said that the delegation’s visit to Syria represents a message to the Syrian leadership and people that the Tunisian people stand by Syria, pointing out that severing the diplomatic relations between Syria and Tunisia was a historical mistake by the Tunisian previous leadership.

He indicated that the deputies of the Popular Front for the Tunisian national parties expressed solidarity with Syria in the face of the terrorist campaign, which seeks to undermine Syria’s steadfastness.

For their part, members of the delegation affirmed that Syria, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, became a symbol of resistance and steadfastness, expressing regret that some Tunisian citizens had been misled and they were sent to kill Syrians instead of standing in the face of what threatens the security and stability of Syria.
