Syria and Russia: Washington continues to put obstacles in front of Syrians who want to return to their liberated areas
Damascus (ST): The Syrian and Russian Coordinating Bodies for the Return of the Displaced Syrians affirmed that the overwhelming majority of Syrians residing in neighboring countries want to return to their areas in Syria after being liberated from terrorism, but the obstacles that the US still places prevents their return.
The two bodies indicated in a joint statement that Syria and Russia continue their incessant work with the aim of providing various assistance to secure the voluntary and safe return of the displaced to the homeland and to create good conditions for them in the country, which led to the return of large numbers despite the obstacles created by the American side.
The statement said that the Syrian state has paid special attention to the issue of rebuilding the infrastructure and developing the national economy in the country, and has opened various service delivery centers that provide citizens with financial, advisory and legal services, making more than 70 percent of the Syrians who reside in neighboring countries want to return to their permanent places of residence.
The statement renewed recalling the practices carried out by the US to obstruct the return of the displaced Syrians to their country, through working on propaganda aimed at discrediting the Syrian state, forming negative public opinion and spreading a false picture of the real situation in Syria.
The statement reiterated that the territories occupied by the American forces in the Al-Tanf area on the Syrian-Jordanian border and east of the Euphrates are witnessing the violation of all basic human rights norms and the neglect of the needs of the civilian population living in the camps of the displaced, as the situation of the Syrian citizens in Al-Rukban and Al-Houl camps is turning into a humanitarian catastrophe, made worse by the Corona pandemic and the economic sanctions.
The statement held the American occupation forces responsible for the disasters that happen in the Al-Tanf area that they occupy, including medical services for the residents of Al-Rukban camp, stressing that the complete closure of this camp and the return of the displaced to their permanent places of residence is the only solution that guarantees the return of these displaced to their normal lives.
The statement concluded by renewing the call on the international community to put pressure on the American side that prevents the situation in Syria from stabilizing and to lift the illegal sanctions imposed on it and to withdraw from the lands occupied by the American forces so that the Syrian state can fulfill its duty towards its citizens.
