Syria and Russia: Some western countries are still supporting terrorist groups in Syria

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The weapons seized by the Syrian Arab army in the terrorist organizations hideouts in several liberated areas have confirmed that some western countries are still supporting terrorist groups in Syria by supplying them with weapons and military equipments, according to the Syrian and Russian Coordination Committees on the Return of Syrian Refugees.

In a joint statement on Wednesday, the two committees said that “after defeating terrorists in several areas in the countryside of Aleppo and Idleb, Syrian Arab Army units found huge quantities of weapons, ammunition and military equipments left by terrorists. Some of these weapons are made in western countries; a fact that provides a further proof that the west is still supporting terrorists in Syria.”

The statement made it clear that the Syrian army’s operations in the de-escalation zone in Idleb have been conducted in retaliation against the terrorists’ attacks on residential areas that caused the martyrdom of some 150 civilians.

According to the committees, the terrorists have planted landmines and closed the roads leading to the humanitarian corridors, established by Syria and Russia in al-Hader area in Aleppo southern countryside and in Abu al-Duhour and al-Habeit in Idleb countryside, in order to prevent civilians from leaving the terrorist-held areas.

The two coordination committees reiterated that the presence of foreign troops in Syria without the approval of the Syrian government is illegal according to the UN Charter and all the international laws and it would prolong the crisis and exacerbate the situation in Syria.
