Syria and Russia : International conference on refugees’ return is the first step to resolve refugee crisis
Damascus, SANA-Syria and Russia stressed that the international conference on the return of refugees recently held in Damascus was the first step to coordinate international efforts for a real solution to the return of Syrian refugees from abroad despite the unprecedented attempts made by the US and its allies to boycott the conference and obstruct the return of the displaced to their areas liberated from terrorism.
The Syrian and Russian coordination committees on the Return of the Syrian Refugees said in a joint statement issued following a meeting via video Conference that the conference results stressed that joint efforts that would be exerted by the parties concerned will make the solution to the return of the refugees a success.
The two sides added that the participants in the conference condemned the illegal foreign presence which contradicts the Charter of the UN, and the occupation of some Syrian lands in addition to looting natural resources, hampering the return of Syrian citizens to their lands and imposing unilateral coercive measures by the United States.
In his speech, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, asserted that despite the unilateral coercive economic measures being imposed by the US and its allies on the Syrian people, the Syrian State seeks to secure the requirements for the return of the refugees in the areas liberated by the Syrian Arab Army and restore institutions, services, and rehabilitating the infrastructure.
In turn, Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Sousan stressed the readiness of the Syrian state to exert its utmost to contribute to the return of the Syrian refugees and guarantee decent life for them stressing that the unilateral coercive measures being imposed on Syria hinder the return of the refugees.
