Syria and Russia affirm that US-led coalition tries to strangle the Syrians economically

MOSCOW, (ST)_The Syrian and Russian Coordination commissions for the return of the Displaced Syrians have affirmed that the US-led coalition continues to provide terrorists with arms and money and it tries to  strangle the people of Syria economically in parallel with looting Syria’s wealth instead of fighting terrorism.

The commissions said in a statement released on Thursday: “ After they entrenched themselves on Syrian territories under the pretext of fighting terrorism, the western coalition forces encourage criminal gangs and provide them with arms ,money and train them.”

They asserted that the Americans carried out airstrikes on Syrian territories and occupied a wide area in Syria and overtly supported terrorist groups violating the international law and UN charter.

The statement called on the international community to attach great importance to the illegitimate presence of the western forces and their activities that cause instability in Syria.

“ The steps adopted by Western countries have nothing to do with war on terrorism in Syria and they aim to loot the national wealth of a sovereign country, which is a member of the UN,” the two commissions asserted.

They pointed out that the US reinforces its military presence in the oil-rich areas in northeast Syria and seeks to fragment the country.

The commissions also referred to the escalation of terrorist attacks being launched by Al-Nusra Front [AKA Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham ( HTS)] and ISIS against civilians, infrastructures,  security forces and government buildings.

“Despite the efforts being exerted by the Syrian government to restore peaceful life to the country, the US and its allies continue their policy of sanctions that aim to force the Syrian people to obey the Western countries’ orders,” the statement concluded.
