Syria and Paraguay discuss ways of economic cooperation

On July 17th, the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, met with the President of the Senate of the Republic of Paraguay Oscar Fernandez and his accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed ways to develop economic cooperation and trade exchange between the two countries.

Minister Salem stressed that this visit constitutes a constructive start for developing economic cooperation, increasing trade exchange between the two countries and overcoming difficulties and obstacles in this field.

Minister Salem expressed the ministry’s readiness to work directly with the Republic of Paraguay to achieve the common interest of the two peoples.

In turn, Fernandez indicated that there are great opportunities for economic cooperation between the two sides that can be developed to reach the level of the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

Fernandez pointed out the importance of this meeting, as the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection is the first concerned with securing basic materials for the Syrian people.

The delegation accompanying Fernandez included Senator Juan Afra Miguel, Paraguayan Ambassador in Beirut, Chargé d’Affairs in his country’s embassy in Damascus Fernando Parisi, Honorary Consul of Paraguay in Syria Muhammad Qattan, Honorary Consul of Syria in Paraguay Moataz Al-Khatib, and Honorary Consul of Syria in the city of Sudad DelesteMichael Maskin.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly Muhammad Akram Al-Ajlani, Secretary of the People’s Assembly Maysa Saleh, and Head of the Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee in the People’s Assembly Boutros Marjana.
