Iraqi Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shummari and the Syrian Ambassador to Iraq Sattam Jad’an Al-Dandah on Saturday discussed bilateral relations and security cooperation.
The two sides discussed prospects of boosting Syrian-Iraqi economic relations and enhancing coordination and cooperation between the interior ministries of Syria and Iraq in the security field.
Al-Dandah hailed the efforts being exerted by the Iraqi side to maintain security and stability in Iraq and consolidate the country’s relations with its neighboring and friendly countries in a way that serves the common interest.
In a statement to SANA correspondent in Baghdad, Al-Dandah said that the talks focused on expanding cooperation in securing the borders and preventing the movement of terrorists between Syria and Iraq. The talks also dealt with boosting trade exchange and facilitating the transportation of Syrian goods to the markets in all the Iraqi provinces, he added.
