Syria and ICESCO discuss prospects of consolidating cooperation

Strengthening cooperation in the educational sector between Syria and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) was the main focus during a meeting between  the Minister of Education and Chairman of the National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, Dr. Muhammad Amer Al-Mardini, with the Director-General of the Organization, Dr. Salem bin Muhammad Al-Malik.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the second consultative meeting of the National Committees of ISESCO, held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Mardini noted the relationship between Syria and the organization, expressing keenness to develop these ties in the future.

He reviewed the efforts and procedures undertaken by the Ministry to develop legislation and improve the educational reality in Syria as well as supporting  capabilities to confront the challenges imposed by the terrorism war against Syria, the economic sanctions imposed on the Syrians as well as  the devastating earthquake disaster that struck the country.

Minister Al-Mardini stressed Syria’s keenness to enhance cooperation and joint work, encourage initiatives, foster creativity, and diversify areas of partnerships with the organization to serve national sectors in the fields of education, science and culture.

For his part, the ICESCO Director reviewed the most prominent aspects of ISESCO’s vision and the major directions of its work strategy, through the implementation of programs and projects that focus on empowering  youth and women and developing their skills.
