On the sidelines of the Third South Summit held in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates , Bassam Sabbagh and his Cuban counterpart,Gerardo Portal on Sunday discussed means of developing bilateral ties between Syria and Cuba.
Portal renewed his country’s condemnation of the Israeli attack that targeted a residential building in the capital, Damascus, which led to a number of civilian casualties.
He expressed Cuba’s full solidarity with Syria and the Syrian people in the face of the attacks they are being exposed to, including the Western sanctions imposed on them.
In turn, Sabbagh congratulated the leadership and people of Cuba on the outstanding success in leading the Group of 77 and China during the past year, praising the efforts they made in representing this important group and defending its issues.
The two sides stressed the need to enhance coordination and cooperation between them at international forums, and also to ensure the preservation of their common interests during the negotiation process of summit documents and the upcoming international entitlements.
