Aleppo (ST): Syria has always been distinguished by the ruins of its cities, which reflected multiple historical eras throughout the ages, and presented the identity of its people to the world, including the city of Aleppo, which is one of the oldest inhabited cities in history that occupied a key position within the global human heritage, both tangible and intangible, as a destination that attracted archaeologists and thinkers to search in the folds of its cultural and heritage treasures.
Researcher and historian Muhammad Qajah, during a heritage symposium entitled (The current cultural siruation of the tangible and intangible Syrian cultural heritage, (Aleppo as a model), hosted by the National Book House Theater in Aleppo, talked about what the concept of tangible and intangible heritage is, what globalization is, and the elements of heritage in general, including diverse cultures, antiquities, customs, traditions, religious beliefs and rituals, social and religious ceremonies, indigenous knowledge, arts, crafts and music, political and ideological beliefs, scientific traditions, language, sports and folktales.
He reviewed the most prominent features of architecture in the city of Aleppo and the Arab and international cities that he visited, which were similar to the architectural style of the city of Aleppo, the most important Arabic manuscripts and their distribution around the world, and archaeological books and their scientific and knowlege importance.
The researcher stated that it is the responsibility of experts in the field of heritage in all its aspects to convey the image and treasures of this human heritage to those interested locally and globally, in an effort to preserve it in the light of the current challenges, and to show its value as a national identity that distinguishes the country.
