Syria’s relations with the DPRK and Venezuela discussed

Syria’s relations with each of Democratic Korea and Venezuela as well as the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people were the main topics discussed during the meetings held on Wednesday between Syria’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh and his Democratic Korean and Venezuelan counterparts.

The meetings were held on the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement summit in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

During his meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK Kim Kye-gwan, Sabbagh exchanged views with the Korean official on strengthening bilateral relations and upgrading them to the level of historical relations between the two countries

Sabbagh and Kye-gwan stressed the need to continue coordinating joint stances and exchanging support at international forums and conferences. They also called for joint action to confront the violations committed by the U.S. and its Western allies against the international law and the UN Charter.

The other meeting between Sabbagh and his Venezuellan counterpart Tatiana Pugh focused on developments in the Middle East, in the light of the barbaric Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip for more than 100 days, and on the Israeli entity’s repeated attacks on Syrian and Lebanese territories.

Focus was also put on ways to develop and strengthen bilateral and friendship relations between Syria and Venezuela in various fields, which contributes to supporting the efforts of the two countries to alleviate the human suffering caused by the illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed on them by the US and its Wesern allies.
