The Syrian Pavilion at the Iraqi Tourism Forum is witnessing a remarkable turnout of those interested and willing to learn about the new in the fields of Tourism and enhance cooperation and coordination with the Syrian-Iraqi Business Council to develop and activate tourism in the two countries.
The forum, which opened on Wednesday in Baghdad entitled (Tourism is Peoples ‘ Forum) and with the participation of more than 40 local and Arab tourism companies, continues until the eighth of this month. It aims to activate tourism by exchanging experiences between Iraqi companies and Arab and regional companies.
Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Baghdad that Syria’s participation in this forum is very important as the two countries are linked by a common civilization, history and culture, and also face common challenges.
He pointed out that Syria’s participation at the level of the Ministry of Tourism and the Syrian embassy provided an important opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences in order to upgrade the joint work to wider horizons.
In a similar statement, Syrian ambassador to Baghdad Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah said that the participation of the Syrian Ministry of Tourism in the Iraqi Tourism Forum is aimed at strengthening tourism relations with Iraq as it is an important partner in the tourism sector in Syria. It is also an opportunity to conclude contracts between Syrian tourism companies and their Iraqi counterparts, especially as the two countries have historical, cultural and natural treasures that provide tourists with ideal opportunities for viewing, discovery and recreation.
Ruba Sasila, director of Tourism Marketing and Media at the Ministry of Tourism, said in statements to SANA that participation in the forum comes within the Ministry’s plan to promote foreign tourism and activate foreign exhibitions.
She pointed out that the ministry’s pavilion is 110 square meters, and the Syrian side is represented by an official delegation from the Ministry and the Syrian Company for Tourism and Hotel Management in cooperation with the Syrian-Iraqi Business Council and with the participation of a group of hotels and tourism companies.
Ghazi Grawi, Director of Transport at the Syrian Company for Transport and Tourism, pointed out in a similar statement that the Syrian company’s participation is aimed at strengthening relations and developing tourism capabilities with the Iraqi side by promoting its activities and facilities that are concerned with tourism affairs and attracting tourist groups and introducing them with tourist, heritage and archaeological places throughout Syria.
