Damascus (ST) – Our valiant armed forces today  commemorated the Day of Martyrs, the most honourable people and the noblest of human beings. Commanders of army units and formations gave speeches in which they referred to the meanings and connotations of this occasion, which came to commemorate the heroism and sacrifices of the martyrs.

The commanders stressed that the path of martyrdom is the path of dignity and pride in order to defend the glory of the homeland and the sanctity of its soil.

Schools for the sons and daughters of martyrs also commemorated this national occasion, where students presented performances and theatrical performances that expressed the meanings and values of martyrdom.

On this occasion, the commanders of the military regions visited the graves of the martyrs, laid wreaths in the name of Mr. President Bashar Al-Assad, Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, on the memorials, and gave the official salute.

They also visited the wounded in military hospitals, wishing them speedy recovery and good health and wished wellness to their honourable families.

Also on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, official and popular personalities visited a number of martyrs’ cemeteries in different governorates, placed wreaths on the martyrs’ tombs, and recited verses from the holy Quran for the rest of their souls.
