Syria’s Al-Arabi Women’s Rugby Team wins silver in West Asian Championship for Arab Clubs 

The Syrian Al-Arabi Women’s Rugby Team won a silver medal in the West Asian Championship for Arab clubs, which was hosted by the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

Al-Arabi Women’s team came in second place after defeating the UAE team 33-14, Lebanese Team 13-15 and Zanobia Club team from Syria 47- 0, while it was defeated by Qatar team 10-0.

Al Arabi club player Al-Yamamah Abu Ras won the cup of the best player in the tournament.

In a statement to SANA, the coach of Al-Arabi team Sarah Abdel-Baqi indicated that participation in the championship is important for the Syrian Rugby sport and for Al-Arabi club in particular. It is an essential step for the club to raise the name of Syria in foreign forums, especially since the achieved result came with clubs, except for the Lebanese club, that includes players of  foreign origin.
