Syrian volunteers in Egypt and UAE raise funds, collect relief aid to assist quake-affected people in their homeland

A number of Syrian volunteers residing in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have taken the initiative to launch fundraising and donation campaigns targeting their fellow citizens in their homeland after the destructive earthquake that hit Syria last Monday, calling for lifting the unjust blockade imposed on the Syrian people.

The volunteers stressed that these initiatives aim at expressing their solidarity with their country and at helping the Syrians face the repercussions of this violent earthquake, pointing out that they managed to collect financial and material aid including clothes, medicines and foodstuffs to affected persons.

In Dubai, UAE, tens of Syrian volunteers visited the Syrian Consulate to contribute to an initiative called “For the Sake of Syria”. Among the volunteers were fashion designer Manal Ajaj, activist Hala Hassan, equestrian Massa Adnan and businessman Fakhri Tarbin. A number of Arab and foreign volunteers residing in the UAE also contributed to this event.

The initiative resulted in collecting 18 tons of relief aid that will be delivered to the Emirates Red Crescent in preparation for shipping it to Syria.
