Syrian Tourism Minister participates in the Conference on Tourism and Green Investments in Riyadh

Marking World Tourism Day, the Syrian Minister of Tourism Mohammad Rami Martini is taking part in the Conference on Tourism and Green Investments currently held in the Saudi Capital Riyadh.

In a statement to SANA, Martini stressed the importance of Syria’s participation in the conference with the aim of discussing the development of joint Arab action to support the tourism sector, especially intra-Arab tourism, which will have priority in the conference’s axes.

“The conference is also important because it is being held in Saudi Arabia, which is an essential partner for tourism in Syria, since tourist arrivals from Saudi Arabia were huge before the terrorist war on Syria”, the minister said.

“We count on boosting tourism relations with Saudi Arabia, opening direct flights between the two countries and increasing tourism exchange,” Martini went on to say, pointing out that the active arrival of Syrian expatriates from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries to Syria has played a role in supporting the tourism sector this summer.

Martini explained that the topics of the conference focus on digital transformation, developing and empowering human resources, using high-tech and digital technology, investing in tourism education and training, supporting the role of youth, in addition to supporting intra-Arab tourism.

He pointed out that the conference was preceded by meetings with the tourism ministers of several Arab countries, including Tunisia, Lebanon and Iraq, to discuss ways of cooperation in the tourism field.
