The Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation has opened the “Kafaat” (Efficiency) Education Institute in Masaken Barzeh area in Damascus, and the ” Kafaat” Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities in the suburb of Harasta in Damascus countryside.
Dr. Lamis Adra, Director of the Education Sector at the Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation, said in a statement to reporters that an institute and a center for competencies in the field of education and empowerment were opened, in cooperation with the Russian Coordination Center in Hmeimim and the Russian Cultural Center, in order to provide various educational services to students. Such services include strengthening and following-up lessons for all stages and grades, teaching the Russian language and rehabilitating people with disabilities, in addition to enabling courses for people with learning difficulties and for specialists wishing to hone their skills in this field.
In turn, Rear Admiral Oleg Gorinov, Vice President of the Russian Coordination Center in Syria, pointed to the importance of this step in providing aid and support to people in need of education, teaching the Russian language and rehabilitating people with disabilities, indicating that the Russian Center continues to provide assistance, especially in the light of the current circumstances and the earthquake that occurred in Syria.
For his part, Nikolai Sukhov, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, pointed out that the opening of the “Efficiencies” Educational Institute and Center provides new educational opportunities and rehabilitation for all ages, indicating that the Russian Cultural Center is in constant coordination with the Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation to carry out educational activities, implement a joint work plan, and provide language curricula, Russian courses and workshops in various fields such as drawing and plastic art.
For her part, Dr. Reem Al-Juhani, the supervisor of the “Efficiencies” Center in the Harasta, explained that the center focuses on solving learning difficulties, diagnosis and evaluation of the situation of children with disabilities, hyperactivity, memory difficulties and poor attention, in addition to carrying out recreational activities, teaching music and drawing under the supervision of cadres from the Faculty of Arts.
In turn, the director of the “Efficiencies” Institute in Masaken Barzeh in Damascus, Samer Al-Ahmad, indicated that the institute accommodates more than 100 male and female students, and it is a national project with specialized and professional cadres who have long experience in the educational field, explaining that Russian teachers will be hired to teach the Russian language.
