Syrian Red Crescent, Italian Agency for Development Cooperation sign cooperation agreement to support quake-affected people

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) on Thursday signed a cooperation agreement with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in the presence of SARC’s President Khaled Hboubati and the Italian charge d’ affaires Massimiliano Dantono. The agreement aims at supporting those affected by the earthquake and providing them with urgent humanitarian aid.

The agreement, which was signed by SARC President Khaled Hboubati and Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation Alessandra Permatii, included providing financial aid worth one million Euros for the people affected by the earthquake disaster which struck Syria on February 6th.

In a statement to reporters, Hboubati stressed the importance of the Italian aid as it paved the way for other aid batches coming from European Union countries.

For his part, the Italian charge d’ affaires Massimiliano Dantono explained that it is the first time the Agency signs a cooperation agreement with SARC to help Syria facing this difficult situation, pointing out that this cooperation aims at implementing and improving response to the medical activities.

Dantono assured that this assistance came within the framework of the friendship between the Syrians, SARC, and the Italians.
