The Syrian expatriate plastic artist, Randa Hijazi, won the golden award in the annual spring exhibition competition held by the Quebec Province of Artists and Sculptors in Montreal, Canada.

Regarding the award she received at the Leonardo da Vinci Gallery, the artist Hijazi said in a statement to SANA correspondent: “Any success achieved by a Syrian person in the expatriate country is a double success, as it embodies the civilization and culture of his people and his country abroad, and contributes to the global creative human movement, especially since the Syrians, today, are the focus of the world.”
Regarding the idea of the painting, Hijazi noted that she expressed sympathy through hands and fingers that symbolize multiculturalism in societies and the importance of positive and supportive relationships between individuals to build a healthy human society. She indicated that the idea of painting on fingers is not new, but she used it to convey her idea in a new way that carries color harmony and power of expression.
