Damascus (ST): After Fridayprayers, absentee prayers were held in Syrian mosques today for the souls of the victims of the earthquake that hit Syria.
During Friday sermons, the imams and preachers of mosques called for solidarity, cooperation, and extending a helping hand to the families affected by the earthquake disaster, as dictated by religious, social, and humanitarian duty.
The imams and preachers stressed that the positive aspects must be strengthened and that we should be together as one hand in mitigating the effects of the earthquake.
The imams concluded their sermons by praying to God to lift the distress and anguish from Syria, to protect its people, its army and its leader, President Bashar al-Assad, and to have mercy on the martyrs and heal the injured.
For his part, the Minister of Religious Endowments, Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Sattar al-Sayyed, appealed during the Friday sermon at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus to the Arab, Islamic and human conscience, and all countries to work to lift the unjust siege on the Syrian people, which targets their food, medicine, and efforts to rescue the afflicted.
