Syrian journalists observe a minute of silence in respect of the souls of martyrs of journalism in occupied Palestine
Governorates-(ST)- On the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian journalists, Syrian journalists in the governorates observed a minute of silence to mourn the lives of their fellow colleagues who were martyred in occupied Palestine as a result of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.
The stand comes within the framework of a call by the International Federation of Journalists to observe a minute of silence in respect of the souls of the journalists who were martyred in occupied Palestine at their work sites.
The journalists participating in the central solidarity stand at the General Authority for Radio and Television called on various international organizations to assume their moral and legal responsibilities in putting pressure on the occupying entity to stop its aggression and to take an immediate action to ensure the safety of civilians and journalists in the Strip and the occupied territories.
They stressed that the Al-Aqsa Flood operation shook the image of the criminal entity and revealed its truth before the resistance.
President of the Union of Journalists Musa Abdel Nour stressed that the occupation’ attacks against the Palestinians are similar to what terrorist organizations, supported by Western powers and the Zionist entity, have done against Syrian journalists.
The Chairman of the Syrian Arab Popular Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People and Resisting the Zionist Project Saber Falhout indicated that the Syrian journalists’ stance comes in solidarity with the Palestinian journalists who document on a daily basis the brutal massacres and genocidal war committed by the Zionist entity.
Director of the General Authority for Radio and Television Habib Salman noted that the stance is a message of affirmation of the unity of speech in the Syrian and Palestinian arenas.
Director edditing at SANA Nadeem Rashidi said: “Through this stance we express complete solidarity with the Palestinian journalists who sacrifice their lives while performing their journalistic duties, covering the Israeli aggression on Gaza, and conveying the truth of what is happening there.”
He pointed to the need to provide protection for journalists and provide a safe working environment for them to perform their professional duties.
