Syrian-Iranian Economic Committee affirms enhancing relations in transport, electricity, economy and trade
The technical talks session of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Economic Committee concluded on Wednesday with the participation of representatives of the two sides in the sectors of economy, trade, housing, oil, industry, electricity, transportation and insurance, in the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.
At the end of the talks, the minutes of the meetings was signed between Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, head of the committee on the Syrian side, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, and Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Baderbash, the head of the committee on the Iranian side.
Minister Al-Khalil confirmed that the discussions included multiple meetings of the joint committee with the participation of more than 100 representatives from government agencies at the technical level in areas related to industry, agriculture, trade, energy, economy, finance and other sectors.
He pointed out that the meetings included constructive discussions and dialogues about mechanisms for developing existing bilateral cooperation, and studying cooperation in new fields. He underlined the importance of these meetings in developing economic and political relations.
For his part, Minister Bazerbash affirmed that the discussions at various levels with officials, stakeholders, experts, technicians, and joint specialized committees led to important results aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields. He underlined the urgency of developing economic relations between the two countries, which denotes the desire of the leadership in both countries, and stimulates the private sector and strengthening its role to contribute to the development of bilateral economic relations.
The Iranian minister added that the two sides agreed to develop cooperation in the fields of energy, electricity, oil, tourism, transport, culture, insurance, banking and customs.
The signing of the minutes of the meetings was attended by the Chairman of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, Dr. Fadi Al-Khalil, and the Iranian Ambassador to Damascus, Hussein Akbari.
The Iranian delegation, which includes representatives of ministries and concerned authorities in the economy, trade, industry, finance, transport, urban development, agriculture, energy and tourism, in addition to representatives of the private sector, started on Tuesday a visit to Damascus and held talks with the Syrian side. During the meetings, the steps taken were reviewed in terms of what was agreed upon in the previous meetings of the Syrian and Iranian joint committee. The coordination on future steps that would raise bilateral cooperation relations to the required level was also discussed.
