Syrian film  “ 2000 and “ takes part in  an international festival in Iran

Under the title “ 2000 And “ the young Syrian director Hamza Mohammad participated in the 100 Seconds International Film Festival, which was held in Iran on the 28th of last February.

Concerning  the idea of ​​the film, the young director  said in a statement  to SANA  that it is based on the words of the late poet Mahmoud Darwish, “And if they return places to us, who will return to us the comrades?”.

He pointed out that the film summarized  the life of Syrian youths  mixed with joy and laughter at times and agony and tears at other times, before, during and after the unjust  war on Syria , recalling what the families lost in terms of sons, brothers and friends.

Hamza confirmed that the movie 2000 And was written, produced and directed by him, and it is one of the silent short films that he considers is one of his best , as the film is able to address ideas and meanings to all segments of society, regardless of their language and geography.

Regarding  the real significance of the title of  his movie 2000 and , Hamza said  that “the memories of the Syrians and what they lived through during the war years after 2011 are many and tiring, so he relied on the conjunction for after 2000.”

The young director  said  that his participation as a Syrian filmmaker in this festival is a great opportunity and an additional value to what he presents in conveying the image of the reality that his country passed through during the years of war and reducing it to a film that does not exceed 5 minutes.

He stressed the importance of his participation at the  artistic, cultural and social level through introducing the Syrian films and young artistic talents to the  international audience , thus promoting cultural dialogue, calling for motivating and inspiring young people to work in the film industry and development and paving the way  for cooperation and joint work with filmmakers and professionals from around the world.

The movie  “ 2000 and “ ,  according to Hamza,  will participate in several international festivals in Italy, England, Slovenia, Lebanon and others, and he  is currently preparing to produce a new film that simulates the psychological impact of society on people.

It is worth mentioning that the Syrian film “A Room with a view”  by the young director Hamza Muhammad won in October  last year the Mentor Arabia Award 2022  for the Awareness Ads category in  a ceremony held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
