Syrian expatriates in Romania celebrate 78th Anniversary of Evacuation Day  

The Syrian community in Romania held a celebration at the Syrian Embassy in Bucharest in commemoration of the 78th anniversary of Evacuation Day.

In a speech, Head of the League of Syrian Expatriates in Romania Isam Al-Rifa’i expressed pride in the sacrifices of the ancestors to achieve independence and victory over the French colonialists, reaffirming the Syrian people’s determination to defend their sovereignty and to support their leadership and army to continue the struggle as to achieve more victories.

For his part, the Charge d’Affairs of the Syrian Enbassy in Bucharest Khaled Sharaf spoke about the sublime national meaning of Evacuation Day and the role of the Syrian heroes who led to this achievement.

The celebration was attended by a number of Arab Ambassadors accredited in Bucharest, representatives of Arab communities there and members of the Syrian Community. The Syrian and Romanian anthems were played during the celebration during which the participants observed a minute of silence in respect of the souls of the martyrs.
