Syrian delegation participates in funeral ceremony of Iranian President and companion

Today, a delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, led by Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, arrived in Tehran to participate in the funeral ceremony of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian, and their companions.

The delegation included the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhamed Samer Al-Khalil, and Major General Ali Mamlouk, Advisor for National Security Affairs in the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic.

Arnous and the accompanying delegation offered their condolences to the First Vice President of Iran, Mohammad Mokhber, and to the leadership, government and people of the friendly Islamic Republic of Iran, describing the late president as a brother and friend of Syria and its people.

Arnous said in a statement to reporters that the late President gave much of his attention and care to Syrian-Iranian relations, which was clearly demonstrated during his historic visit to Damascus during the month of May 2023, and his meeting with President Bashar Al-Assad.

He noted that the late President was keen on Syrian-Iranian relations to bean example of international cooperation at all political, economic, social and cultural levels and for the interest of both countries.

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered today in and around the campus of Tehran University to participate in the funeral ceremony as Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ali Khamenei, performed funeral prayers on the souls of the bodies of the martyrs before moving them from Tehran University to Azadi Square.
