Syrian athletes prepare to participate in the Arab Sports Games in Algeria

Fourteen sports games in which our national teams will compete in the fifteenth edition of the Arab Sports Games, will be hosted by Algeria on the fifth of next month, and will continue until the fifteenth of it, under the supervision of the Federation of Arab National Olympic Committees.

Seven Algerian cities will be the scene of the tournament’s competitions, which aim to consolidate the unity of Arab youth, strengthen friendship between Arab peoples, and devote the principles of the Arab Olympic movement.

One hundred and five Syrian players are racing against time in preparation for this great sporting event, through the internal and external camps, and their ambition is to climb the podiums and raise the Syrian flag high.

The head of the Syrian Olympic Committee, Firas Mualla, stated that the participation of our teams in this Arab forum is of special importance, especially after a long hiatus for about fifteen years.

He added that the General Sports Federation organized external camps for our teams in several countries, including Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Iraq and other countries.

Member of the Executive Office and Head of the Athletics Office, Muhammad al-Hayek, said: Our teams in wrestling, boxing, judo, karate and weightlifting have always had a clear imprint in the previous Arab tournaments.

In turn, the President of the Cycling Federation, Khaled Kokash, stated that our participation in the tournament will be limited to the women’s team in the general, individual time trial and team time competitions.

Olympic champion Maan Asaad indicated that reaching any achievement requires several elements, most notably commitment to exercise, patience, persistence and will, indicating that he continues his daily training through a well-thought-out rehabilitation program to reach a high technical level.

Syria participates in fourteen games, which are football for under 23 years, athletics, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, karate, judo, weightlifting, cycling, swimming, gymnastics, badminton, chess and special sports.
