Syrian artists launch blood donation campaign to help earthquake victims

Damascus, (ST) – A number of Syrian artists have joined the initiatives launched by the Syrian Artists Syndicate to help people affected by the earthquake that struck a number of Syrian governorates, and left great losses in lives and property.

Many artists have joined a blood donation campaign launched on Wednesday to express their solidarity with those affected by the earthquake. They stressed that their various forms of initiatives are a national, humanitarian and moral duty.

The deputy head of the syndicate, artist Hadi Bakdunis, said thatthese initiatives represent a humanitarian situation and enhance solidarity among people, especially as we are facing a great human catastrophe.

The head of the Damascus branch of the Syrian Artists Syndicate Tumader Ghanem explained that the Artists’ Syndicate took the initiative to organize a blood donation campaign starting from its belief that artists should stand by the people of their country in different ways.

For her part, member of the Central Council of the Syndicate, the artist Reem Abdel Aziz, said: “The Central Council did not spare any efforts to provide a helping hand to those affected in this great tragedy”. She stressed the need for concerted efforts by the Syrians to quickly overcome this ordeal.

Many other Syrian artists from inside and outside Syria also joined an initiative to support their countrymen in their ordeal through financial donations.
