Syrian-Algerian talks to develop cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research

On August 13thDr. Bassam Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Syria, Kamal Bouchama

The two sides discussed ways to develop scientific and research cooperation relations between the two countries. 

Minister Ibrahim indicated the importance of developing scientific and research relations with Algeria, and opening new horizons in all fields, especially in higher education and scientific research

Minister Ibrahim pointed to the need to activate and develop the scientific research program with Algeria, especially in the field of exchanging students and professors, providing grants and publishing in scientific journals, and supervising participation in postgraduate studies, participation in qualitative scientific conferences and seminars. 

Minister Ibrahim praised the relations between the two countries and Algeria’s firm and supportive stances towards Syria and its just causes. 

In turn, Bouchama stressed that the relations between Syria and Algeria are rooted throughout history, and have always been characterized by stability and clarity of vision

He pointed to the need to develop cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Syrian universities, especially after the unjust war on Syria that targeted education and institutions

The meeting was attended by Dr. Fadia Deeb, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Aqil Mahfoud, Director of Cultural Relations at the Ministry.
