Syria wins two bronze medals in the Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad

The Syrian Science Olympiad won two bronze medals, which were achieved by members of the National Chemistry Team , at the conclusion of the 2023 Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad. The Olympiad was held by Kazakhstan with the participation of about 113 male and female students from 21 countries.

The Excellence and Creativity Authority said in a statement that the two bronze medals were won by two students, Salama Abdel Nasser Omran and Salman Iyad Al-Darwish from Homs governorate, after they succeeded in passing two theoretical exams on the 2nd and 3rd of May, and a practical exam held on Friday.

The Commission pointed out that this is the fifth participation of the students of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in the Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad, which is one of the most important international competitions. The Olympiad achieved five bronze medals during the previous participations in the years, (2022 two bronze medals, 2021 a bronze medal, 2020 a bronze medal, 2019 medals as well and two bronze medals this year, bringing the total to 7 bronze medals in five participations.
