Syria Wins Two Bronze Medals in the International Biology Olympiad in the UAE

In a new achievement for the Syrian international teams in the international events, the National Biology team of the Syrian Science Olympiad won two bronze medals at the 2023 International Biology Olympiad (IBO), which was held in the United Arabian Emirates, from July 2nd to July 11th with the participation of 316 students from 79 countries.

The Distinction and Creativity Agency said in a statement reported by SANA that both Kinan Hasan Kanjo and Lawand Muhamed Bayram from Aleppo won the bronze medal while Ibrahim Muhamed Rafiq Auf received a certificate of appreciation.

The team was accompanied and supervised by Chairman of the Scientific Committee for Biology, Dr. Abd Al Samie Hanano and members of the Committee: Dr. Shadi Sukkariyeh, Dr. Nazir Khalil, and Dr. Zina Malik.

It is to be noted that it is the seventh Syrian participation in this competition; the first participation was in 2016. Last year the Science Olympiad achieved a silver medal and an appreciation certificate.
