Syria wins silver and bronze medals in the Arab Weightlifting Championship in Egypt

Cairo – The Syrian weightlifter Jaafar Mayya on Saturday won two medals, a silver medal and a bronze one, in the Arab Weightlifting Championship in Egypt.

Mayya obtained the silver medal in the snatch lift for the under 67 kg of weight youth category. He scored a new Syrian record by lifting 114 kg. The previous record was 111,5 kg.

Mayya also obtained a silver medal in the total ranking.

Other Syrian athletes participating in the competition are weightlifters Qasoura Jaghili and Al-Munther Mohammad.
