Syria, Tunisia to enhance cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research

Damascus,(ST)- The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim on Wednesday discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia in DamascusMuhammad Al-Mahdhabi the relations of cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education and scientific research and prospects for the development of these ties.

Ibrahim indicated the importance of the Syrian-Tunisian relations and the need to open new horizons of cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially in the field of higher education and scientific research.

Ibrahim stressed the importance of working on developing and activating the scientific and research executive program, in the field of exchanging scholarships, joint scientific visits, and exchanging experiences between Syrian and Tunisian universities.

Minister Ibrahim gave an overview of the higher education system, scientific research centers and agencies in Syria, their stages of development, expansion of scientific specializations, and university hospitals that train students, in addition to their role in diagnosis and treatment.

In turn, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia praised the role of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Syrian universities and their graduates who have achieved a distinguished presence in many Arab and foreign countries.

The Ambassador pointed to the importance of exchanging opinions and ideas and strengthening scientific and cultural ties and reactivating them to a better level than previously.

Al-Mahdhabi also noted the importance of  focusing on human development and the future of young Syrians and Tunisians in a world that is developing day by day.
